Shereen Alikhan, M.D., F.A.A.P.
Shereen Alikhan, M.D., F.A.A.P., is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Clinical Sciences at the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine. She serves as assistant clerkship director for pediatrics, where she contributes to curriculum development, didactic instruction and clinical training experiences for medical students during their pediatric rotations.
She is also a facilitator in the Physicians, Patients and Population course, where she teaches medical history-taking and physical examination skills, reviews written clinical documentation and helps students apply their medical knowledge to patient scenarios. As a learning community professor, she provides mentorship, guidance and support to students throughout their medical school journey.
In addition, Alikhan is a board-certified pediatrician who provides wellness and acute care services. She especially values the opportunity to build long-term relationships with patients and their families and to support children's growth, development and well-being from birth through adolescence.
At the College of Medicine, Alikhan works closely with clinical partners, trainees and interdisciplinary teams to enhance pediatric education and strengthen clinical learning experiences. She teaches in both outpatient clinical settings and the classroom and advises students interested in pursuing careers in pediatrics.
Alikhan also serves as president of the Fort Bend Medical Society, where she helps organize continuing medical education events, networking opportunities and outreach initiatives with aspiring high school healthcare professionals. Through partnerships with programs such as Hard Hats for Little Heads and TMA BookShare, she participates in community events that support child safety and literacy.
A native Houstonian, Alikhan earned her undergraduate degree in biology, summa cum laude, from the Honors College at the University of Houston. She received her medical degree from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston and completed her pediatric residency training at the same institution, where she trained at Memorial Hermann Children's Hospital, Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital and MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Alikhan has contributed to local media discussions on topics including childhood measles, influenza, over-the-counter medications and child safety. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
