First Medical Student of THI/UH Collaboration shares his Personal Heart Journey
HOUSTON (Sept. 19, 2023) — Lance Alexander McCoy, a determined and ambitious young man from Angleton, Texas, will be among the first graduates of the University of Houston Tilman J. Last month, McCoy also became the first UH student to participate in the new cardiology rotation training program led by Jorge Escobar, MD, an interventional cardiologist and director of Undergraduate Medical Education at The Texas Heart Institute®.

Jalyce Taylor, a third-year medical student at the UH Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine, was appointed to the Student National Medical Association (SNMA) board of directors at the 2022 SNMA Annual Medical Education Conference. She will serve as the co-chairperson for the International Affairs Committee.

UH Medical Student Selected for National AIM Scholarship
Being a pioneer is bit of a tradition for Houstonian Breanna Chachere. In 2020, Chachere was picked as a member of the inaugural class for the new Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine. Now the second-year medical student is one of 20 student scholars chosen from around the nation for the inaugural cohort of the Alliance for Inclusion in Medicine (AIM) Scholarship Program.
