EH04: Hazard Communication
Course Description: Online training course that covers the Hazard Communication (HAZCOM) rule requirements for informing employees about chemical hazards in the workplace. HAZCOM requires that employees comply with Globally Harmonized System of classification and labelling of chemicals in the workplace and requires that chemical inventories be maintained, Safety Data Sheets be readily available and employees be aware of the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) labels that are now appearing on chemical containers.
Who Should Take It: Required for all faculty, staff and student employees at the University of Houston who may encounter potentially hazardous chemicals in the workplace.

Special Notes: This course fulfills training requirements per Texas HAZCOM Act –“worker right-to-know” in Title 6 of the Health & Safety Code, Subtitle D, Chapter 502, 29 CFR 1910.1200 of 1994 as revised in 2012 to align with the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS).
