Overview

Thank you for your interest in the trip to Honduras. It will take place from 4/13/2024 until 4/21/2024. During this experience, College of Medicine students will be caring for patients in Santa Ana, a rural community in Honduras. 

Each participating student is required to review and acknowledge their responsibilities in preparation for the trip.

Who is going to book travel?

  • The College of Medicine will book the travel (contact to be determined)

How much do I have to pay?

  • The total cost is $1550; however, the College of Medicine will cover $250. Therefore, you will be responsible for $1300.
  • Please note that this will paid in two phases.
  • Phase 1: The initial deposit of $50 is due on January 12, 2024 at 11:59 P.M.
  • Phase 2: The remaining balance of $1250 is due on January 26, 2024 at 11:59 P.M. For flexibility and convenience, options to pay the $1250 balance are available in the following formats:
    • Option 1: a single payment of $1250
    • Option 2: two payments of $625
    • Important: the full, remaining $1250 balance is due on January 26, 2024 regardless of the option chosen.

What does this cover?

  • This will cover your plane ticket, housing, ground transportation, and most meals.

What is not covered?

  • You will be responsible for paying for incidentals, travel insurance, some meals, pre-trip vaccinations / medications / testing, and personal items.

When is the last day to pay?

  • A non-refundable $50 deposit must be paid by January 12, 2024 at 11:59 P.M. to reserve your spot. No exceptions.
  • The remaining balance of $1250 must be paid by January 26, 2024 at 11:59 P.M., or your spot will be forfeited. No exceptions.

What if I can no longer go after submitting a payment?

  • The $50 deposit is non-refundable. Whether you receive an additional refund will depend on the circumstances of your withdrawal and airline policies.

What steps do I need to complete to reserve my spot on the trip?

  • Please complete the steps in the table below. Also, please note that you will need to pay a non-refundable deposit of $50 by 11:59 PM on 1/12/2024. These deposits will allow us to determine how many seats on the plane we need to reserve. The full payment (an additional $1250) is due by 11:59 PM on 1/26/2024.
  • Finally, to attend the trip, you need a passport that expires after 10/2024. To renew or obtain a new passport, please contact the UH Passport Office immediately, as this process can take several months.
