Jyotika Kapur, M.D.

Jyotika Kapur, M.D., is an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Health Systems and Population Health Sciences at the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine. Her clinical and academic interests include pediatric care, mental health services in primary care and expanding access to high-quality pediatric care in the community, with an emphasis on clinical excellence grounded in compassion, integrity and social responsibility.

Kapur earned her MBBS from Guwahati Medical College in India. She completed a pediatric internship at the University of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City and a residency in pediatrics at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. She also completed mini-fellowships through the REACH Institute in patient-centered mental health in pediatric primary care and cognitive behavioral therapy for anxiety in primary care.

Kapur is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Her work spans both privileged and underserved communities, including extensive experience with children facing significant social and medical challenges, including recent immigrants, foster youth, victims of trafficking and children with complex medical needs. These experiences shape her commitment to advocacy-driven, empathetic pediatric care.

Guided by the principle that “They don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care,” Kapur is dedicated to preparing future pediatricians to become skilled clinicians and compassionate advocates for children and families.
