Each year, Student Research Day highlights the curiosity, dedication and scholarly achievements of medical students as they present research projects focused on advancing scientific discovery and improving patient care. At the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine, the event gives students an opportunity to share their work while developing skills that will support them throughout their medical careers.

The Joint Admission Medical Program (JAMP) and Shadowing Opportunity and Application Resource (SOAR) Program provide undergraduate students with opportunities to explore medicine firsthand while building relationships with faculty, physicians and peers who share their passion for serving others.

International collaboration is helping prepare the next generation of physicians at the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine. Through a partnership with Swansea University in Wales, medical students have the opportunity to participate in a research exchange that combines scientific discovery, innovative medical education and cross-cultural learning. While conducting research alongside Swansea faculty and students, participants strengthen their communication and critical thinking skills, gain exposure to new educational approaches and return to Houston with experiences that enhance both their medical training and professional development.
