oct-humana-unpacking-box.jpgThe College works with diverse Houston communities to learn about their priorities and develop better health outcomes in Houston – together. To this end, we have partnered with members from Houston’s East End and Third Ward to form Community Working Groups to address issues important to them.

Our community partnerships are built on the following principles:

  • Membership in the groups is open to those who live or serve in the area.
  • Groups meet monthly to discuss health priorities specific to the community, develop ideas to for collaboration, and provide feedback to the College on future strategies.
  • Health priorities and goals are developed over several meetings by each group.
    • Community Working Group goals:
      • Discuss issues of power and authority for working groups to be a voice.
      • Utilize existing research.
      • Drive community impact through innovations and collaboration.
      • Accountability, information sharing, and utilizing group assets.
