Export Controls Training

Training in Export Controls helps you understand when your activity or research may require an export license along with laws and regulations and the risks of non-compliance.

UH provides targeted, online training modules through the CITI Program Export Training. These modules cover the basics of export controls and export compliance. CITI training is available to all UH-affiliated persons. Follow the instructions to Register for a CITI Account and affiliate with UH.

You must first take the CITI Export Control Course which consists of four modules:

  • Introduction to Export Compliance
  • Export Compliance When Using Technology in Research
  • Export Compliance and Collaborations
  • Export Compliance and United States Sanctions Programs

You then have the option to take any of the following modules:

  • Export Compliance for Researchers
  • Export Compliance for Research Administrators
  • Export Compliance and Distance Education
  • Export Compliance and Biosafety
  • Export Compliance for Operational Departments
  • Export Compliance for International Shipping
  • Export Compliance and Purchasing
  • Export Compliance and International and Foreign Waters

Upon completion of the Export Control Course and any optional module, CITI will generate a certificate of completion. The certificate is valid for two years from the date the course or module is completed.
