Academic Success Program

Discover effective strategies, resources, and tools to promote your holistic success.

The Academic Success Program offers opportunities for students to boost their success during the Spring semester. As part of this program, students will learn how to track their academic progress, discover student support resources, and engage in essential practices for success. Included in this program are a virtual, one-time seminar and semester-long course. First-year and first-year transfer students in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics are encouraged to participate, regardless of academic standing/performance.

Participants of the Academic Success Program must meet the following qualifications:

  • Must be a current, undergraduate first-year or first-year transfer student in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics

Students participating in the Academic Success Program are expected to complete all program components in their first Spring semester at the University of Houston, including:

  • Attending the Academic Success Seminar hosted via Microsoft Teams in January and
  • Enrolling and completing the First-Year Seminar.

Students participating in the Academic Success Program are responsible for adhering to the policies and deadlines outlined in the Undergraduate Student Handbook, the Undergraduate Academic Catalog, and the Undergraduate Academic Calendar as well as the course expectations outlined in the associated syllabus.

Register for the Academic Success Seminar via Get Involved. Instructions on how to login to this virtual, one-time seminar will be provided during registration.

Register for First-Year Seminar. Refer to the Enrollment Schedule to determine your enrollment date to register for IDNS 2197: First-Year Seminar—the course associated with the Academic Success Program. Two sections will be offered in the Spring semester.
