Minimum 2.6 GPA

3.0 preferred

The GRE is not required for this program.

 

For international students: This program does not meet the requirements for studying in the U.S. with an F-1 or J-1 visa.

 

Application Materials

Applicants must submit the following application and materials to be considered for admission into the M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction program.

Main Application

The following materials should be submitted through the ApplyWeb application:

Your resume should include your academic history, professional experience, and, if applicable, any relevant research and publications.

Upload a PDF of your official transcript for initial review. If admitted, you must have your official transcripts sent directly to UH. View transcript instructions.

A recommender should be able to comment on your academic potential in graduate school and leadership potential in the field of study. You will provide contact information for references and they will receive an email with instructions.

Please write a statement of interest that describes why you are interested in pursuing a master’s degree in your intended specialization (e.g. Bilingual/ESL Education, Literacy, etc.). In your response, reflect on the following:

  • Personal Motivation: What inspired you to choose this specialization? Were there any personal experiences, challenges, or events that influenced your decision?
  • Academic and Professional Background: How do your previous academic or professional experiences align with this field of study? How have these experiences prepared you for advanced study in this area?
  • Career Goals: How do you envision this degree helping you achieve your long-term professional objectives? What specific skills or knowledge do you hope to gain, and how will they contribute to your career?
  • Impact: How do you plan to use the knowledge and skills gained from this program to make a positive impact in the field or in the community you serve?

  • Maximum of 3 pages, double-spaced
  • Times New Roman font (12 point)
  • 1-inch margins
  • $50 for domestic applicants
  • $80 for international applicants
All graduate applicants, regardless of citizenship status, must demonstrate proficiency in English to obtain admission to UH. Many applicants meet this requirement based on earning an undergraduate degree in the United States and do not need to submit documentation beyond their transcript. Admissions Decisions
