The University of Houston’s Leadership and Legacy Awards at the Campus Leaders Ceremony, hosted by the Center for Student Involvement, is an opportunity for the university community to recognize outstanding student leaders, individuals, organizations, and programs for positively impacting the quality of campus life through service, leadership, and Cougar spirit. Dr. Tina Powellson, Director for the Center for Student Involvement

Campus Leaders Ceremony honors were presented in more than 20 categories, including Community Impact, Inclusion and Advocacy, Rising Star, Unsung Hero, Outstanding Educational Program, Outstanding Student Organization, and the ceremony’s highest honor, The Legacy Award.

Davis Darusman

Davis Darusman, winner of The Legacy Award, had this to say about being awarded the ceremony’s highest honor, “Dating back to my first year as a student leader on campus as the Special Events Chair for the Student Program Board (SPB), I knew I wanted to make an impact. I wanted to leave the university a better place than I inherited it. Even being nominated was an honor because it was a testament to all of the time I have invested in the university, from SPB, to cub camp, to the American Marketing Association, to the Student Government Association and finally to Coog Radio. I think the importance of the award is more than the award itself, it’s the summation of the experiences along the way. It’s the people that invested in me, and the people that I, in turn, invested in.”

The 35th Annual Leadership and Legacy Awards at the Campus Leaders Ceremony will take place on April 23rd, 2020. Applications will open in early Spring 2020.
