Director, Learning Abroad
Kelly became the Director of Learning Abroad in October 2016. Prior to joining the University of Houston, Kelly served as the Director of Education, Business and Policy at Asia Society Texas Center and the Director of the Confucius Institute and Assistant Director for Global Projects and Partnerships at Texas A&M University. Kelly has worked in international education program administration in the U.S. since 2007, before which she lived and worked in China for three years; she speaks Mandarin. In 2015, Kelly was one of two U.S. delegates awarded the Young Sinologist Fellowship from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Ministry of Culture. She was also selected as one of twelve U.S. delegates to participate in the Fulbright International Education Administrators Program in France for fall 2018.
Kelly holds a Master of Public Administration from UNC-Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication from Texas A&M University. She is passionate about fostering global competency among students, preparing them for leadership and global citizenship in the 21st century.

Maggie joined the Learning Abroad team in 2015 after working in Residence Life, Intercultural Education, and Career Development. She holds a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration from The University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Arts in French with a minor in Spanish from Centenary College of Louisiana. Maggie has studied abroad in France, Belgium, and Guatemala as a student. She speaks French and has working proficiency in Spanish. In addition, she has traveled in Western Europe, Mexico, Canada, Australia, and Peru.
Learning Abroad Advisor
Advisor for College of Business, Engineering, Technology, Natural Science & Mathematics, Hotel & Restaurant Management, Graduate College of Social Work, Medical & Professional Studies, and for Reciprocal Exchanges (REEPs).
Kailey joined Learning Abroad as an Advisor in December 2017. She was born and raised in Houston and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with minors in English and Theology from the University of St. Thomas. While at St. Thomas she was able to study abroad in London and Singapore. She is currently completing her Master of Education in Counseling at the University of Houston. Prior to Learning Abroad she worked as an International Admissions Counselor. In this role she recruited undergraduate students in China, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
Marisol joined Learning Abroad in September 2015. Marisol was born in Mexico, but was raised in Houston, TX and is fluent in Spanish. Before joining the Learning Abroad team, Marisol worked for the Houston Independent School District for twenty years, where she held a variety of positions leading her to her last position as the school administrative assistant. Marisol has spent many summers in Mexico and has also traveled to Canada. Marisol plans to continue her education in Business Management and Accounting.
Passport Facility Coordinator
Regina joined Learning Abroad in August 2018 after working in the Human Resources field for many years and graduating from the University of Houston-Downtown with a Bachelor of Social Work. She also holds a Bachelor of Sociology from Texas Souther University. She plans to persue a Master and Doctorate in Macro Social Work. Regina is a volunteer grief facilitator and a Big Brothers Big Sisters Mentor in the Houston community. Born and raised in Houston, she loves snowboarding, outdoor festivals, and attending football games.
Mounica Sravanthi Ippili
Learning Abroad Graduate Assistant
Mounica is from India and was born and raised in the coastal regions of the Bay of Bengal. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature, Psychology and Journalism from St. Joseph’s College in Visakhapatnam and is currently pursuing her Master of Education in Counseling at the University of Houston. She joined the Learning Abroad team in December 2017. Mounica enjoys learning about people, cultures, food and dogs. She speaks four languages and loves to write.
Learning Abroad Student Assistant
Saman joined Learning Abroad in January 2019, and she will graduate in May 2019 with a B.A in Psychology and World Cultures and Literature with a concentration in Middle Eastern Studies. After graduation Saman plans on attending graduate school for psychology. In Fall 2017 Saman traveled to Cairo for Model Arab League’s International Conference. She was also awarded the U.S Department of State’s Critical Language Scholarship to study Arabic during the summer of 2018. Though Saman was born and raised in Houston, her family has roots in England, India and Zambia, all countries she has visited. Additionally, she has traveled to Canada, Spain, Qatar, and the UAE.
