A vital facet of the UH Residential Experiences program is that community members will bond and build camaraderie by not only living together but also by learning together.

As an accepted member of your residential community, it is your responsibility to enroll in the courses that all members will take in common. 

Enrollment Notes:

• You'll take these courses in your first semester. The rest of your first semester courses will be determined by the requirements for your major.
• Depending on major, some of your residential experience Common Courses may be listed on your Academic Map in future semesters. In that case, take the Residential Experience Common Course; it won’t impact your degree completion to swap the order of courses such as History and English.
• You do not need to retake a course for which you have documented credit, such as from AP or dual credit. If you haven't received an AP score yet, you should register for the course now and change your schedule later, if needed.
• Honors students should follow their Honors flowchart, which takes priority in course planning. This may mean you do not have any, common courses with all students within your residential experience community.
• If your degree structure prevents you from taking Common Courses, you may opt out and still live in the Residential Community. Verification may be requested to ensure correct placement.
• If your community is not listed, there are no common courses required.
