VOICE
Vibrant, Resonant, Supportive.
Combining world-class vocal training with incomparable performance opportunities in
our award-winning opera productions and choral ensembles.

Voice students at the Moores School of Music enjoy a supportive learning environment that provides intensive technical training, robust curricula, a variety of exceptional performance opportunities, and the opportunity to learn from an integrated, distinguished faculty who are dedicated to helping every singer develop and achieve their artistic and career goals.
Our renowned Moores Opera and our prizewinning choral ensembles provide first-rate performance experiences for singers at every level, whether they are interested in a career in performance, choral music education, vocal pedagogy, music business, or arts leadership. Our alumni include prizewinning opera singers who perform on international stages, Grammy-award winners, arts administrators, and choral conductors, as well as dedicated, award-winning teachers and academic pedagogues , all of whom have benefitted from the high standards and strong foundation developed in our programs of study.
Graduate students in Voice have the option to focus solely on the art of classical singing and opera training through our MM in Vocal Performance, or they may opt for our Performance & Pedagogy MM track to also gain specialized skills in advanced vocal pedagogy, learning the principles of physiology, psychology, acoustics and all other aspects of successful teaching in the private studio. These singers still enjoy the full benefit of our Vocal Performance curriculum, with its goal of developing performance skills through advanced voice study and the professional-level productions of the Moores Opera Center. Pre-professional singers who wish to participate in these same exceptional training and performance opportunities outside the rigors of an academic degree may wish to apply to our 2-year Certificate of Music Performance in Voice.
Doctor of Musical Arts candidates in Vocal Performance enjoy the same robust vocal training, rigorous academic standards and high-quality performance opportunities, as well as a wide array of options for their minor area of study. This degree boasts an impressive history of alumni succeeding in academic appointments throughout the United States, many of whom also maintain active and prominent performance schedules.
