The Blaffer Art Museum at the University of Houston will debut “Cocktails in the Courtyard,” its inaugural annual fundraising event, from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, in the Louise J. Moran Courtyard at the University of Houston Arts District.
Hosted by Ben Ackerley, Kaleta Blaffer Johnson and Sebastian Keitel, the evening will bring together artists, patrons and supporters of contemporary art for a festive outdoor celebration benefiting the museum's exhibitions, public programs and educational initiatives.
The event will transform the Louise J. Moran Courtyard into a lively gathering space with handcrafted cocktails, heavy hors d'oeuvres by Café Natalie and live music by Bayou City Funk Band. Guests will also enjoy access to the museum's current exhibitions featuring acclaimed artists Adriana Corral and Maria Gaspar and can bid on curated experiences and bespoke items during a silent auction.
Inspired by the spirit of Gulf Coast hospitality, the evening celebrates Houston's vibrant arts community while raising critical support for the Blaffer Art Museum's mission to present ambitious contemporary art exhibitions, foster meaningful dialogue and provide impactful educational opportunities.
Following the fundraiser, guests are invited to continue the celebration at an after-party from 8 to 11 p.m. at Bar Daphne in Houston's Heights neighborhood.
