Living in one of these elevated learning communities takes no more time than it does to pursue the life of a successful student at UH. You’ll take classes, plan for success, set academic routines, and get involved with campus life. You will be expected to be an active participant in out-of-class activities a couple of times a month, however you will WANT to participate because these activities are with your people and in support of your goals!
Residential Colleges are designed for high-achieving freshmen pursuing specific academic paths (STEM and health professions). Residential Colleges are built for rigorous academic pursuits, involving elevated advising support, faculty and expert connections, and regular UH and community experiences. Living Learning Communities are broadly thematic – in most cases not limited to certain majors – and are built to provide you with a network of peers with common goals and interests. You’ll live and engage in activities together, in some cases take classes together, and have access to staff or faculty guidance.
Some LLCs allow non-LLC roommates, while others do not. Residential Colleges require roommates to meet the eligibility requirements for that particular Residential College. Email UHLLC@cougarnet.uh.edu to find out if a special roommate request is possible. If not, no worries–you'll still be nearby and can expand your friend network with both of your new roommates!
There is no additional cost beyond the normal housing rates for the particular residence hall.

Please let us know as soon as possible (UHLLC@cougarnet.uh.edu) so that we can do our best to reassign you through the normal room assignment process.
