Career Highlights
Minwoo Lee is an award‑winning scholar whose research bridges hospitality, tourism, marketing, and information systems. He has produced an extensive body of work, including more than 78 peer‑reviewed journal articles, over 100 conference papers and presentations, a book, and multiple book chapters and industry publications. His global scholarly impact has been recognized through his inclusion in the World’s Top 2% Scientists (2024) list by Stanford University and Elsevier.
His research excellence has been acknowledged through numerous honors, including the 2022 ICHRIE Research Award, Donald Greenaway Excellence Award, and Provost’s 50‑in‑5 Research Award. He has also received 18 Best Paper and Research Awards, such as JST Most Cited Article of Year 2025, JTTM Martin Oppermann Memorial Award for Best Article of 2024, and 2022 JHTT Paper of the Year Award, along with multiple conference best paper recognitions. His research has been supported by competitive grants from UH, HFTP, and international agencies, as well as the Minister’s Grand Prize from South Korea’s Ministry of Information and Communication.
Dr. Lee serves as a Coordinating Editor, Senior Associate Editor, Associate Editor, Guest Editor, and editorial board members of top-tier hospitality and tourism journals. He founded Hospitality Analytics and Innovation Lab (HAI-Lab) and Workshop on Informatics, Data Science, and Economics in Hospitality and Tourism Research (WIDE-HTR). Dr. Lee is also the elected Director of Research for ICHRIE and has provided consulting and industry-focused research projects to organizations including HFTP, Bali Group, Accor Hotels, Hilton, Intercontinental Hotel Group, and Hankyung Communication.
A dedicated educator and mentor, Dr. Lee works closely with the College’s Project Management and Analytics Track and develops and teaches various innovative courses in hospitality analytics, project management, technology, and social media at both undergraduate and graduate levels. He chairs Ph.D. dissertations, advises graduate and undergraduate research projects, and mentors students participating in the College’s STR Student Market Analytics Competition. Under his guidance, teams have achieved significant success, including 2nd place globally in 2023, 3rd place in the 2023 North & South Americas Competition, and multiple finalist placements in recent years.
