Synthetic Data - University of Houston

UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON ERC SYNTHETIC DATA

These synthetic data are provided to researchers for activities that may be achieved away from the University of Houston Education Research Center (UH ERC) computer lab. Examples of work that may benefit from such utilization include: basic familiarization with the types of ERC data available, gather ERC data information for development of proposals, and write and prepare preliminary data code for use within the UH ERC for analysis. The UH ERC would like to thank The University of Texas at Dallas Education Research Center (UTDallas ERC) for creating the original set of synthetic data and allowing UH ERC use of the data.

Synthetic Data Notes:
UTDallas ERC renames the variable in the original source files. In the data documentation files provided on the UTDallas ERC website and here, the original source file name and the UT Dallas ERC variable names are provided. For use in the UH ERC, all UTDallas ERC synthetic data files were renamed with the original source file variable names per the documentation provided by the UT Dallas ERC. For use in the UH ERC, please use the renamed synthetic data files provided below.

Data files were created to mimic the 2008 version of ERC data files. Some variables noted in the UTDallas ERC documentation were absent from the synthetic data files and some variables absent from the UTDallas ERC documentation were in the synthetic data files. The renaming syntax contains the absent variables encountered.
