Minor in Classical Studies
Students minoring in Classical Studies must complete at least 15 semester hours in ancient Greek and/or Roman civilization as follows:
- Six semester hours from HIST 3339 (Ancient Greece), HIST 3340 (Ancient Rome), HIST 3335 (Barbarians and the Birth of Europe), HIST 4350 (Alexander the Great), CLAS 3374 (Women in the Ancient World), CLAS 4381 (Latin Classics in Translation), or another course by consent of the director.
- Three semester hours from either CLAS 3307 (Greek and Roman Myths of Heroes) or CLAS 3308 (Myths and the Cult of Ancient Gods), or another course by consent of the director.
- Six elective semester hours from any CLAS, Latin (2301 and above), or Greek (2301 and above) courses, or others by consent of the director.
Students may use up to six semester hours from relevant courses taken for their major or another minor, by consent of the director. A grade point average of no less than 2.0 must be maintained to obtain the minor in classical studies. Nine of the fifteen semester hours must be at the advanced level, and six of those nine advanced hours must be taken in residence.
