Freshman Orientation Bacterial Meningitis Immunization Clinics

Admitted Freshman Students who need to receive their Bacterial Meningitis Immunization must schedule an appointment to receive their immunization on the morning of Day One of their assigned Freshman Orientation session

Appointments are available between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM on the morning of each Orientation session.

The Orientation Staff will direct students to the clinic location at the time of their appointment.

Commercial Health Insurance: Students should go online at least 3 days before their orientation date to schedule their appointment with the Campus Pharmacy for their assigned Orientation date.  Contact the Campus Pharmacy at 713-743-5125 if you have any questions about your insurance.  The Campus Pharmacy is located in Room 1211.

SELF-PAY:  Students should contact the Student Health Center at 713-743-5151, Option 5, at least 3 days before their orientation date to schedule their appointment for their assigned Orientation date.  The self-pay cost of the Bacterial Meningitis Immunization is $167.00 (includes a $10.00 injection administration fee).  Charges will be transferred to your university financial account.  The Student Health Center is located in Room 2005. 

If you are under 18, the  Minor Consent to Treat form must be completed by a parent or legal guardian and submitted to the Student Health Center before an appointment can be scheduled.  

After scheduling your appointment, log in to the Healthy Coog Patient Portal using your CougarNet ID and password.  Click on the ‘View My Required Forms and Immunizations’ option and complete the required new patient forms prior to your appointment.

Appointments in the Immunization Clinic can be scheduled by calling 713-743-5151 during regular business hours. Make your appointment using the Healthy Coog Patient Portal for UH Students.

Travel Health Services

The Student Health Center offers advice, vaccinations, and preventive care to traveling individuals according to CDC recommendations. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provides travel notices and articles about travel health-related topics aimed at world travelers to help them prepare to manage illness and injury abroad. Immunization Requirements and Medical Clearance

The only immunization required for general admissions to the University of Houston is Bacterial Meningitis. The UH Student Health Center does not process immunization records required by the University of Houston for admissions.

There is no medical clearance requirement for general admissions.

Contact your college/department to determine if there are additional requirements for your program.

Available Immunizations

Vaccines that are NOT available at the Student Health Center, include but are not limited to:

  • Rabies
  • Yellow Fever
  • Pneumonia
  • Shingles

To obtain vaccines that are not available from the Student Health Center, contact the city/county Health Departments, pharmacy, or immunization clinics.

Testing for Tuberculosis

  • Tuberculin Skin Testing (PPD)
    This test is not available on Thursdays or prior to a university holiday.
  • QuantiFERON® (QFT)
    An office visit with a provider is required to order this test.

Immunological titers

An office visit with a provider is required to order titers.
