Dan Shantz

Dan obtained his B.S. (ChE, 1995) from the University of Florida and Ph.D. (ChE, 2000) from the University of Delaware. Dan was an Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellow and then joined the Chemical Engineering Department at Texas A&M in 2001, ultimately becoming a Full Professor and holder of the Ray Nesbitt Professorship. In 2012 Dan joined SABIC (Saudi Basic Industries), first as a Chief Scientist and then a Senior Manager in SABIC’s Corporate Research and Innovation Future Feedstocks group playing a leadership role in the inception, technical formulation, and growth of the group.  Dan joined Tulane’s Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering July 2014 as the Entergy Chair in Clean Energy Engineering. He was Department Chair from 2018-2024, and become a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers in 2022.  He is currently the Associate Dean for Research and Doctoral Programs for the School of Science and Engineering.
