From CPR training and mental health counseling to police escorts and emergency preparedness resources, the inaugural Stay Cougar S.A.F.E. Resource Fair connected students, faculty, and staff with services designed to support their safety, well-being, and success at the University of Houston. The event attracted 327 attendees, the majority of whom were students eager to learn more about the resources available across campus. Formerly known as Behind the Badge, the event has evolved into a comprehensive campus safety and preparedness fair that brings together departments and community partners dedicated to creating a safe, healthy, and supportive campus environment.

As students settled into a new semester, the University of Houston Police Department welcomed them to the first Coffee With a Cop event of the year, creating an opportunity to build relationships, ask questions and learn about campus safety resources.

The University of Houston continues a multiyear project to expand access to automated external defibrillators (AEDs). The University of Houston's Fire & Life Safety department installed 106 AEDs across campus this summer, increasing the university's total inventory to over 350. Every campus building now has at least one AED, and Fire & Life Safety is working toward a goal of placing an AED on every floor by the end of 2028.
