Clinical Trial for Transdiagnostic CBT for Anxious/Depressed Smokers
Objective: To develop a new transdiagnostic treatment for smokers with clinical anxiety or depression. This new protocol will combine elements of validated smoking cessation therapy as well as the Unified Protocol. Furthermore, we aim to examine the impact of this newly developed treatment on smoking, anxiety, depression and other transdiagnostic mechanisms of change. Funding Source – Cancer Prevention & Research Institute of Texas (RP200409); Principal Investigators: Matthew Gallagher and Michael Zvolensky.

Longitudinal Impact of Hurricane Harvey
Objective: To examine resilience, vulnerability and trauma factors along with aspects of coping and their effects on the longitudinal course of mental health and well-being outcomes in members of the Houston community in the greater Houston area during Hurricane Harvey.
Cross-Cultural Assessment of Resilience and Well-Being
Objective: To examine the psychometric properties of a number of questionnaires measuring resilience and vulnerability factors in a large, more ethnically diverse sample. We will also examine whether there are differences in mental health outcomes across ethnic groups, and whether there are cross-cultural differences in how mental health and well-being relate to academic achievement over time.
