With five million visitors a year, the Space City Weather blog, created by meteorologists and journalists Matt Lanza and Eric Berger, and sponsored by Reliant, has become the Gulf Coast’s trusted source for forecasting daily rain to warning of life-threatening floods.

The statistics are hard to ignore: Up to 67% of female college students in the United States are battling some form of eating disorder, affecting both their mental and physical health during a critical time in their lives. A range of eating disorders exist, varying in severity from mild (body dissatisfaction) to life-threatening (anorexia nervosa).

Elena Grigorenko, the Hugh Roy and Lillie Cranz Cullen Distinguished Professor of Psychology, is the recipient of the 2025 Esther Farfel Award, the University of Houston’s highest faculty honor.
