Biography

Md Shahadath Hossain is an Assistant Professor (Instruct) at the University of Houston. His research interest is in Applied Microeconomics, in which he studies topics in Development Economics, Labor Economics, and Health Economics, with a focus on health & human capital in early childhood.

His research goal is to conduct policy-oriented analyses aimed at reducing inequality in human capital development and labor market outcomes. One strand of his research focuses on generating policy-relevant evidence on reducing child malnutrition. The second strand of his research studies the effects of safety net programs such as pension benefits for informal sector workers in developing countries. The third strand of his research focuses on reducing the persistence of poverty across generations.
