Aural Rehabilitation 

Listening with amplification can be challenging at first and may require some time to adjust. Training provided to manage a hearing loss includes informational counseling, speech reading, listening strategies, adjustment to amplification, and speech and language activities. Aural rehabilitation therapy groups provide participants with the tools needed to increase hearing and communication skills and help develop realistic expectations. 

Services are provided in-person or via telepractice.

Adult Language and Cognition Services

Treatment programs are individualized for adults recovering from a stroke, head injury, or other neurological conditions, such as Parkinson’s Disease and Multiple Sclerosis. The programs address communication needs related to work, home, and social settings. 

Services are provided in-person or via telepractice.

Post-Stroke Communication Group

Adults with aphasia come together for treatment and communication interactions with other stroke survivorsCommunication groups are offered once a week for two hours, with individual treatment also available weekly for those interested in individual supplemental services. Group members practice using functional communication skills and compensatory strategies for community living. This program is appropriate for individuals no longer eligible for hospital-based rehabilitation who continue to benefit from long-term comprehensive speech-language therapy.

Page Turners: Adult Literacy Clinic

Page Turners is a book club for adult clients who wish to develop or strengthen their literacy skills. All services are provided via telepractice using a Zoom for Healthcare platform.

Accent Training Program

Accent training includes small group discussions and training regarding communication and public speaking, focusing on the differences between individual native dialects and General American English. In chosen contexts, strategies to enhance pronunciation of General American English are shared and practiced. This program provides evidence-based strategies that are applicable in self-selected communicative contexts. Certified and licensed speech-language pathologists supervise meetings.

Voice Evaluation and Intervention 

The voice therapy program for adults and children emphasizes the achievement of the best voice possible and the prevention of voice disorders. Services are tailored for individuals with hoarseness or vocal quality concerns, voice loss, adequate loudness, pitch, or vocal fatigue. Evaluation and therapy may benefit individuals with conditions such as vocal nodules, muscle tension dysphonia, vocal cord dysfunction, paralyzed vocal folds, or neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s Disease, all conducted in collaboration with medical management. Services are available for professional voice users, such as teachers, preachers, and singers, and individuals who are transgender working on voice feminization or masculinization.

Fluency Evaluation and Treatment Services

Diagnostic and treatment services are available to adults and children who stutter.

Social Communication Services

Adults with autism may have trouble managing the demands of college and work. This program focuses on conversation skillsexecutive function skills, self-advocacy, and skills for independent living. Individual and group therapy options are available.
