No need for soothsayers or palm readers — the future of computer technology is open to all at the University of Houston 2007 Tech Fair on Wednesday, Oct. 17.

Sponsored by the Division of Information Technology, the free fair runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the University Center’s Houston Room. This is the sixth year the event has attracted leading computer and technology companies to preview new products and services for faculty, staff and students. Exhibitors include companies such as Microsoft, Sprint, JVC, Apple, Dell, Hewlett-Packard and Cougar Byte.

“We plan to have more vendors and services at this year’s fair,” said Linda Grant, the fair’s project manager. “Entertainment will include video games, great door prizes, hot dogs, nachos and other goodies.”

The event not only serves to showcase new products, it’s also a chance for faculty, staff and students to socialize in an informal setting while learning from high-tech experts.

Attendees can sign up for prize drawings. A Microsoft Xbox 360 will be among the prizes.
