The University of Houston will be represented by 18 student-athletes and three relays at the 2013 NCAA Division I Track & Field West preliminary round starting Thursday at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas. UH student-athletes qualified for the three-day competition by ranking among the region's top 48 in their respective events, while the relay teams ranked among the top 24.

UH Moores Concert Chorale Takes Top Prize in German Competition

During its third trip across the pond, the Moores Concert Chorale has again impressed international audiences. The chorale ventured to the 13th Annual International Chamber Choir Competition in Marktoberdorf, Germany and earned the competition’s first prize. The chorale also earned the competition’s Gustave Charlier-Anna Maroye Prize for best interpretation of a religious chorale work (“Splendid Jewel” by Steven Paulus).

UH Bestows McElhinney Award to Cotright, Honors Other Staff Members

As a child growing up in Tyrone, La., LaSaundra Cotright never thought she would have a chance to go to college. Yet, Cotright’s ambition, hard work and pursuit of excellence have taken her from her modest upbringing to graduating summa cum laude from Loyola University to receiving UH’s McElhinney Distinguished Service Award. Cotright was one of 11 employees honored at the Staff Excellence Awards luncheon.
