Emilio Braganza

Summer 2018

My name is Emilio and I am an incoming senior studying Mechanical Engineering here at UH. I was originally born in Seattle, Washington but I’ve made Houston a second home with amazing people, good food, and by being a Cougar of course! I was the previous Chapter President for the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers and a Residential Adviser for Cougar Village II housing since my sophomore year. For this summer 2018, I was blessed with being given the opportunity to intern with Jacobs Engineering, right off Bellaire and Beltway 8! My plans are to hopefully start working after the end of my undergraduate career as a mechanical engineer. Currently, with Jacobs, I am working in buildings and infrastructure and so far, I love seeing how my major can be applied in a real-world setting. From visiting work sites to conducting systems tests with contractors, I have learned so much in such a short time and have met some truly amazing people. And so, although my exact plans might not be as concrete right now, I know that I fully expect to be an engineer involved in meeting a lot of influential people, having some variety in my work, and getting to be a part of some very impactful projects for the community at large. At some point in my professional career, I would also like to come back and pursue other degrees in higher education!
