  • Juniors must have completed at least 72 credit hours, with at least 24 semester hours at their current institution, and rank in the top 7.5 percent of their class.

  • Seniors must have completed at least 90 credit hours, with at least 24 semester hours at their current institution, and rank in the top 10 percent of their class.

  • Graduate students must have at least 18 graduate hours completed, rank in the upper 10 percent of their class, and be nominated by their respective colleges or graduate programs.

Academic Recognition

Phi Kappa Phi membership is a stamp of excellence and there are many ways to proudly display your membership in the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline honor society. Every new member will receive an initiation certificate, an official PKP pin, and a personalized member card.

Award Opportunities

Annually, PKP awards more than $500,000 in awards and scholarships to its members. National PKP award and scholarship programs include the Graduate Fellowship and Award of Excellence competition, Promotion of Excellence grants, Scholar and Artist awards, and Internship and Study Abroad grants. From fellowships up to $35,000 to $1,000 study abroad grants to $500 Love of Learning grants, the Society has a long history of supporting the educational pursuits of its members. Lectureships, symposiums, and local awards and scholarships exist at the regional and chapter levels.

Graduate fellowship award applications are initiated at the local chapter level. For more information or to apply, contact Ben Rayder at btrayder@central.uh.edu.

Application information is available at the Awards and Grants section of the PKP National Organization website.

Fees

Every effort is made to keep the cost of membership in PKP affordable for current and prospective members. At initiation, the candidate will pay certain national and chapter fees. The national portion pays for the official PKP pin, a certificate, and one year of national dues. This entitles the member to receive the Society's quarterly publications, the PKP Forum magazine, and the PKP Focus Newsletter. Initiation fees cover the cost of the banquet and national and local dues.
