Melissa Meléndez joined the Dean of Students team in 2023 as a Care Manager, working with our Assistant Deans to support students experiencing challenges impacting their academic success.

Melissa is UH alum from the Graduate College of Social Work and is a Licensed Master Social Worker interested in the ways policies impact communities. She received her bachelor’s degree in Human Services from St. John’s University in Queens, NY.

Prior to coming to UH, some of her roles included serving as an academic advisor and case manager, working with local resources such as the Houston Food Bank, United Way, and SEWA International.

Outside the office, Melissa loves to knit, find good eats, and aspires to visit every Texas State Park with her spouse and their adorably adventurous canine companions.
