Student Advocacy

When a student encounters a barrier to their success, it is important to know who to turn to; who can help. Student Advocacy is dedicated to helping students find answers and resolutions to their problems.

Student Advocacy is able to assist students with:

  • General questions
  • Information
  • Emergency Loans
  • University Procedures
  • Campus Referrals
  • Policy Clarifications
  • Grievances
  • and more!

The Dean of Students office encourages students to schedule appointments, however offer walk-in assistance Monday – Friday, from 9:00am to 4:00pm as the Dean-on-Call is available.

The Student Advocacy and Support Services problem-solver will:

  • Listen to the student and discuss his/her concerns, questions, or complaints.
  • Provide information that will help resolve the student's problem.
  • Explain University policies and procedures and their effect on the student.
  • Follow-up on student concerns, problems, and complaints.

Most major departments have Student Advocacy and Support Services designated problem-solvers. For further information, please stop by the Dean of Students Office located in 256 Student Center South. This service is sponsored by the Dean of Students Office in conjunction with UH colleges and departments.
