First-Gen Hat’s the Vibe Center for Student Empowerment November 2 4 pm - 6 pm Student Center South- Ballroom West Celebrate First-Gen Week by decorating your own hat with pins, patches, and more! Get creative, express yourself, and show off your unique style.
Degree Completion: How Can the Credit by Exam Be Used CASA: Testing Services & Bauer College of Business November 2 2 pm - 4 pm Student Center South- Ballroom East The workshop will familiarize students to our UH Credit by Exam Program can be utilized to earn college course test credits towards their degree completion. Exam Program
CEA CAPA 1st Gen Abroad Learning Abroad November 3 11:30 am - 12:30 am Student Center South- Ballroom West CEA CAPA is a UH study abroad affiliate program provider with special programs for First Gen students. Come learn about their course offerings and scholarship opportunities over some light refreshments.
First-Gen Summer Abroad with USAC Learning Abroad November 3 1 pm - 2 pm Student Center South- Ballroom West USAC's study abroad affiliate provider, will be on campus promoting their programs with discounts for first generation college students.
Student Org Workshop Center for Student Empowerment November 3 1 pm - 4 pm Student Center South- Space City Join us during First-Gen Week for a student organization workshop focused on building connections, developing leadership skills, and exploring ways to get involved on campus.
Top Rope Clinic Campus Rec November 3 5 pm - 9 pm Rec Center (Climbing Wall) Join us during First-Gen Week for a Top Rope Climbing Clinic! Learn the basics of rock climbing, build your confidence, and challenge yourself while connecting with fellow Cougars.
Dodgeball Tournament Campus Rec November 3 6 pm - 11 pm Rec Center Join us during First-Gen Week for a fun-filled dodgeball tournament! Team up with fellow Cougars, show off your skills, and enjoy some friendly competition as we celebrate our first-generation community.
Succulents & Self-Care UH Wellness, Sustainability November 4 11 am – 1 pm Wellness Center Students will be able to plant their own succulent and decorate it with uplifting affirmations as a reminder to nurture themselves alongside their goals.
teachHOUSTON Sweets & Information Mathematics/teachHOUSTON November 4 11 am - 1 pm Science & Research 1 Come and pick up a treat and learn about teachHOUSTON scholarships, research or more.
First-Gen Imposter Syndrome Workshop Center for Student Empowerment, CAPS November 4 12 pm - 1 pm Student Center South- Heights Room Struggling with self-doubt in college? You're not alone. Join the Center for Student Empowerment for the First-Gen Imposter Syndrome Workshop, an interactive session designed to help first-generation students understand and overcome imposter syndrome in both academic and personal life.
First-Gen Bash Center for Student Empowerment November 4 4 pm - 6 pm Student Center South- Houston Room Celebrate your journey at the First-Gen Bash, hosted by the Center for Student Empowerment. This uplifting event honors UH students who are the first in their families to attend college, featuring guest speakers, free food, entertainment, and networking with fellow First-Gen Coogs and campus resources.
MSCS-AI Student Networking Night Master of Computer Science Ai November 5 6 pm - 7:30 pm University of Houston - Katy Campus Join fellow MSCS-AI students at UH Katy for an evening of networking, collaboration, and community building. Connect with classmates, discuss emerging AI technologies, and build relationships to support your academic and career success. Light refreshments provided. Exclusive to MSCS-AI cohort students.
Arbor Day Volunteer tree planting Sustainability November 6 11 am - 12 pm Quads and A.D. Bruce Religion Center Celebrate Arbor Day by joining us for a volunteer tree-planting event on campus! Help support a greener, healthier environment while making a lasting impact on the UH community. Students, faculty, and staff are welcome to participate!

Stargazing & Celestial Navigation   Campus Rec November 7 6 pm - 10 pm Brazos Bend State Park (Registration Closes 11/4) Explore the night sky during First-Gen Week with an evening of stargazing and celestial navigation! Learn about the stars, discover how to navigate by the sky, and enjoy a unique outdoor experience with fellow Cougars.
