The Steadfast Coogs Group
The Steadfast Coogs Group (TSCG) is a student-led program designed to help University of Houston students build a strong foundation of skills that support both academic success and personal well-being throughout their college experience.
The Steadfast Coogs Group is a revitalized version of the former Resilient Coogs Group, with a renewed focus on fostering community, strengthening self-confidence and self-efficacy, and encouraging personal responsibility as students navigate college life. Several discussion topics and activities are inspired by How to Win at College by Cal Newport, which compiles practical advice and strategies shared by high-achieving college students. These ideas will be used as conversation starters and adapted to meet the needs and experiences of University of Houston students. Students are not required to do any readings.
The group will be facilitated by student leaders, Graduate Assistants, and Student Interns under the supervision of Juliet Ogbonna, LMSW, and other Center for Student Empowerment (CSE) staff.
TSCG will be offered biweekly on Mondays for a total of seven sessions.

Group Goal
The goal of the Steadfast Coogs Group (TSCG) is to empower University of Houston students to define and pursue their own vision of success by developing the knowledge, skills, and habits needed to thrive in college. Through guided discussions, self-reflection, and practical skill-building, students will strengthen their self-confidence, self-efficacy, accountability, and decision-making while cultivating sustainable strategies for academic achievement, personal well-being, and lifelong growth.
