Scholarships & Fellowships

The Arden Eversmeyer Endowed Graduate Fellowship in WGSS ($8,000)

Funded through the generosity of Houston lesbian herstorian, Arden Eversmeyer (1931-2022), beloved community builder and founder of the Old Lesbian Oral History Project (OLOHP), giving older lesbians visibility and a sense of community through documenting their stories, and of LOAF: Lesbians Over Age Fifty.

Requirements:

  • Current graduate student enrolled at the University of Houston full-time in both Fall & Spring of upcoming year
  • Working on a thesis or dissertation on a WGSS topic
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

Note: Selection is based on the merit of the student's project and academic record.

The Shuart Scholarships: Blanche Espy Chenoweth Graduate Fellowship ($5,000) 

Requirements: 

  • Current graduate student enrolled at the University of Houston full-time in both Fall & Spring of upcoming year
  • Working on a thesis or dissertation on a WGSS topic
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

The Shuart Scholarships: Elizabeth Smith Chenoweth Scholarship ($5,000)

Requirements:

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student enrolled full-time at the University of Houston for both Fall and Spring of the upcoming year
    • Undergraduates: Minimum of 60 hours completed 
    • Graduates: Women's Studies Certificate students preferred
  • Completed at least two WGSS courses
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

Note: Both merit and financial need will be considered.

  • Current undergraduate enrolled at the University of Houston (part- or full-time)
  • Minimum of 60 Credit Hours completed
  • Completed at least two WGSS courses
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

Note: Both merit and financial need will be considered.
