Essay Prizes
Friends of Women's, Gender & Sexuality Studies Essay Prize - $500
The WGSS Program awards two essay prizes (one to an undergraduate and one to a graduate student) annually to the best essay on a WGSS topic. The prize is funded by the Friends of Women's, Gender & Sexuality Studies.
Essays will be judged by a two-person committee appointed by the director of Women's, Gender & Sexuality Studies.
Requirements:
- Current student enrolled at the University of Houston
- Applicants need not be a WGSS major, minor, or graduate certificate student
- Essays must be the student's own original work, written for a UH class in the academic year of the application, and address a WGSS topic. This award is meant to recognize a class assignment essay, not a thesis or dissertation.
