Case Filings & Appeals

Petition for Writ of Certiorari: Appeals and requests a Supreme Court review of a ruling made by the SGA Election Commission or a lower judicial panel.

Petition for Writ of Mandamus: Compels an SGA executive officer, senator, or department director to perform a mandatory duty required by the constitution or bylaws.

Petition for Writ of Injunction: Requests an immediate court order to stop or prevent a specific action by an SGA official, branch, or election candidate that violates student government laws.

Evidence & Case Management

Pre-Trial Motion: Resolves legal arguments, evidence disputes, or procedural issues before an official Supreme Court hearing begins.

Affidavit: Provides a sworn, written statement of facts from a witness or party, used as official evidence to prove or disprove claims.

Amicus Curiae Brief: Allows an outside student, registered student organization (RSO), or campus group to submit relevant perspectives or legal arguments to assist the Court on a case.
