Computer Science Minor

Computing plays an important role in the world today and tomorrow. A minor in computer science provides basic proficiency in computing and can enhance the value of many majors.

Requirements

  • All course prerequisites are strictly enforced
  • Foundations:
    • COSC 1306/1336
    • COSC 1430/1437
    • COSC 2430/2436
  • Advanced COSC Electives (9 hours required):
    • COSC 3000 or 4000 level course
    • COSC 3000 or 4000 level course
    • COSC 3000 or 4000 level course
    • Excludes COSC 3X96, 3X99, 4X96, 4X98, 4X99, 4151
  • Minimum 2.0 COSC minor GPA to graduate

Eligiblity to Declare Minor

  • All minor requests that are submitted must be reviewed for approval by the NSM Undergraduate Advising Center
  • Completion of at least one course that is applicable to the minor and attempted at UH
  • Minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA at UH
  • Minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA on the most recent 60 hours at UH
  • Minimum 2.0 MATH GPA at UH
  • Minimum 2.0 COSC GPA at UH
  • Minor must be delcared to enroll in advanced COSC electives (3000 and 4000 level)
