SCHOLARSHIPS

Several scholarship opportunities and an array of flexible financial aid options are available to incoming and current Honors students to help allay the cost of higher education.

    HONORS COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS

    Honors College scholarships are available to Honors College students in amounts ranging from $1,000 to $1,500 annually. To be eligible for consideration, incoming Honors College students must attend an Honors College Open House. Scholarship decisions are based on financial need, academic record, and leadership. More information about Honors College scholarships will be communicated at Open House. 

    Current Honors College students are also eligible for Honors College scholarships and must apply annually.

    UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIPS

    The University funds several academically competitive scholarships for incoming freshmen. In order to be considered for a university-funded scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

    • Apply for admission to UH for the fall semester immediately following high school graduation. • Complete your application for admission, including the submission of all supporting documentation (application, application fee, official transcripts, and test scores), by November 1.

    TERRY FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

    The Terry Foundation is a Houston-based philanthropic organization that provides an up to full-ride scholarships for outstanding Texas students who demonstrate financial need, a record of leadership, and strong academic abilities to attend in-state public colleges and universities, including the University of Houston.

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT

Safa Ansari-Bayegan ('13) graduated with a bachelor’s in political science and philosophy and a minor in Phronêsis from The Honors College at the University of Houston. 

She is currently a staff attorney in the Special Litigation Division of the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia where she represents incarcerated individuals in their re-sentencing petitions and challenges pervasive unfair criminal justice practices.
