Laser Safety
EHS manages Class 3b and 4 lasers or laser products to ensure personnel safety and compliance with the University of Houston’s Laser Certificate of Registration issued by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Radiation Control Program. All Class 3b and 4 lasers or laser products used at the University are registered under a registration from the state of Texas, managed by the Laser Safety Officer (LSO) with oversight of the Radiation Safety Committee (RSC). On this page you will find resources for obtaining a new laser subregistration, maintaining an existing laser subregistration, ordering a new Class 3b and 4 laser or laser product, and other operational tasks.
