Congratulations to Dr. Daniel Maxwell, interim vice chancellor/vice president for the Division for Student Affairs, for his new role as chairperson for The Texas Association of College and University Student Personnel Administrators (TACUSPA) Foundation.
TACUPSA's mission is to enhance higher education and student success by cultivating relationships and engagement that promote leadership development among current and aspiring student affairs practitioners and scholars.
The Foundation's purpose is to support the Texas Association of College and University Student Personnel Administrators through fundraising activities. These funds are used to help the Association achieve its goals by supporting conference scholarships, fellowships, research awards, and other initiatives. TACUSPA has contributed to the profession and professionals engaged in Student Affairs work since 1925.
Dr. Maxwell brings more than 30 years of experience in higher education at both public and private institutions, along with land grants and urban institutions. He was appointed the interim vice chancellor for Student Affairs for the University of Houston System (UHS) and the interim vice president for Student Affairs for the University of Houston (UH) in October 2021. Prior to his current role, Dr. Maxwell served as the Associate Vice Chancellor/Associate Vice President for Student Affairs from January 2012 – October 2021. Dr. Maxwell also served as the Interim Vice President for Student Affairs at the University of Houston Clear Lake from 2012-2019.
“I am honored to have this opportunity to serve TACUSPA through the Foundation and am excited about the year ahead as we explore ways to enhance the ways we can support TACUSPA through their scholarships, fellowships, and professional development opportunities," stated Dr. Maxwell.
Dr. Maxwell’s membership in TACUSPA began shortly after arriving at UH where he has been a presenter at their annual conference, a member of the conference planning committee, and the TACUSPA Foundation committee. He serves as the 2023 Chair of the NASPA Conference and is a NASPA Board of Directors member. Dr. Maxwell was recognized as a 2020 Pillar of the Profession by NASPA and the NASPA Foundation.
