First-Generation Mentorship Program
The Center for Student Empowerment's First-Generation Mentorship Program is dedicated to guiding and supporting new students who identify as first-generation, offering mentorship, resources, and encouragement as they navigate their college journey, get involved on campus, and adjust to campus life with confidence.
Who qualifies as first-generation?
CSE defines first-generation as any student that is the first in their family to attend a four-year college in the United States. You also qualify as first-generation if there is a large generational age gap between you and your parents/guardians and if your parents/guardians have passed away.
What if my older sibling started college before and/or already has a degree from a four-year college?
Even though your sibling is attending or has graduated college you are still considered a first-generation college student.
