The spring semester’s Finals Mania at Cougar Woods Dining Commons lived up to its rebranding as “The Ultimate Study Break,” offering UH students a chance to de-stress as they prepare for final exams.
The signature Office of Administration-sponsored event featured a popular breakfast-for-dinner spread, including scrambled eggs, pancakes, hash browns, bacon, sausage, and a variety of donuts and pastries along with gluten-free options such as cinnamon rolls.

Outside, attendees enjoyed the petting zoo, visited local market vendors, and relaxed with games like cornhole. Inside the commons, students enjoyed department tablings, a themed photo area with giveaways, and a live DJ that added to the lively atmosphere.
Juniors Marcel Fusilier and Elise Marosek took advantage of the pleasant weather to step away from their studies. Marosek, a rabbit owner, was especially excited to visit the petting zoo.

“This was so nice, I honestly didn’t expect it to be free,” said Marosek, a biology
major. “Anytime I can pet other little guys, I go for it. I am definitely going to
recommend it to some of my friends who are here for their finals today.”
Fusilier was just as ecstatic as Marosek.
“It was definitely a great break,” said Fusilier, who is focusing on accounting and finance. “I enjoyed it and it was cool to see everyone just celebrate what the semester has been. It just gave us a quick second to decompress before starting to finish up our finals.”

Madison Williams, a senior political science major, appreciated the fresh food, upbeat music, efficient service lines, and the vendor offerings.
“I’d definitely give it a 10 out of 10 — it's always great every year,” said Williams. “It's something that is our tradition now, so all students look forward to it. And you know, finals are already challenging, so just having something fun like this with good food — that's always a win.”

Additional campus partners were also present to provide resources and support, including Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Parking and Transportation Services, UH Dining Services, Auxiliary Services, and the University of Houston Police Department.
