Welcome to the Division of Administration and Finance at the University of Houston, comprised of more than 1,100 employees within nine business units reporting to the Senior Vice President for Administration and Finance.

As an integral foundation with a Commitment to Service Excellence, the Mission of the Division of Administration and Finance is to provide a platform for nationally competitive and internationally recognized opportunities of learning, discovery, and engagement for a diverse student population in a real-world setting by leading, supporting and enabling Strategic Goals of institutional effectiveness for the University of Houston and the University of Houston System.

VISION 2027 Strategic Publication

visionThe Division of Administration and Finance has released its new divisional strategic plan, VISION 2027. The new strategic plan highlights and outlines how the nine departments within A&F will collectively work with university leadership to forge a path toward becoming a top 50 public university. VISION 2027 illustrates the division’s dedication and focus to an ongoing improvement to processes, programs, and service enhancements over the next five years.     Campus safety remains one of the Division of Administration and Finance’s top priorities. In February, the division officially launched a new University of Houston Police Department (UHPD) substation in the Welcome Center Parking Garage, marked by a grand opening celebration for the campus community. As February draws to a close, the return of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo brings a sense of excitement across the city—and to UH. Several A&F departments joined the rodeo fun this year.   • In‑Plant Awareness Month Showcases the Impact of UH’s Copy, Print, and Delivery Services

    Each February, In‑Plant Awareness Month shines a spotlight on the critical role in‑house printing and mailing operations play in supporting organizations nationwide. The University of Houston, Copy, Print, and Delivery Services (CPD) department exemplifies that impact through scale, technical precision, and a campus‑wide commitment to quality.   • Students Network, Nosh, Chat at First Year Eats Event

    University of Houston Dining Services hosted its First Year Eats Mocktail Party in late January for first-time UH students. The get-together, the fourth in the Mocktail Party series and first of the spring semester, was held at the RAD Center and provided attendees an opportunity to mingle, snack, and share conversations and laughs with fellow Coog students.   • Students Enjoy Mardi Gras Delights at Moody Towers

    Moody Towers Dining Commons transformed into a vibrant Mardi Gras celebration during UH Dining Services’ Delight‑Ful event, welcoming students, faculty, and staff with Cajun‑inspired dishes and a festive community atmosphere. The menu featured fried shrimp po’boys, red beans and rice, shrimp and grits, and classic gumbo. Read more about the Delight-Ful event.

  • February | Canned Food Month

    Emergencies can occur with little warning and one of the easiest and most effective ways to be prepared is to maintain a small supply of non-perishable food. February is Canned Food Month, and the Office of Emergency Management encourages students, faculty, and staff to keep canned goods in their preparedness kit. Learn more about Canned Food Month.

    If you’re starting the new year with a new device, it's important to keep it safe from cybercriminals. A secure device helps protect your sensitive data, from personal information to financial details like credit card numbers.   • Parking & Transportation Tips Its Hat to Rodeo Season

    Parking & Transportation Services hosted a cowboy hat–decorating party, dubbed Rodeo Craft Bash with UH Parking, giving students a chance to prepare for rodeo season while bringing the University of Houston community together. Held in the Bayou City Room of the Student Center, the event marked Parking & Transportation’s first rodeo-themed program. Read more about students’ experience at the event.

  • Parking & Transportation Debuts ‘Trail’ Ride for Rodeo Season

    In February, Parking & Transportation Services held their version of a ‘trail’ ride, albeit with bikes and scooters, as a playful nod to the longstanding rodeo tradition. Parking & Transportation mapped a ‘trail’ ride from Cougar Woods Dining Commons to Fertitta Center, ahead of the UH Women’s basketball game versus Texas Christian University.   • Yee-Haw! Dining Services Goes Texan at Cougar Woods

    Students, faculty, and staff who meandered over to Cougar Woods Dining Commons on Feb. 26 were greeted by a festival-like environment complete with a mini petting zoo, local vendors, the smokey smell of barbecue on the pit, and the sounds of country music emanating from inside the dining hall all as UH Dining Services celebrated Go Texan Day.   • UH Campus Store Goes Cashless

    Effective February 1st, the University of Houston’s Campus Store is going cashless. Campus store shopgoers can pay via credit, debit, ShastaBUCKS, or ZIP. For those Coogs that only carry cash, the Ready Credit and use the reverse ATM kiosk at the Student Center South, next to the Farmer’s Ridge vending machine. Simply insert cash, and receive an easy-to-use Card.

  • Campus Store Adds CougarQ

    Ahead of the spring semester, the University of Houston Campus Store implemented the use of CougarQ to facilitate textbook pickup for students. Adding CougarQ allows students to sign up and get in line (virtually) to pick up their college textbooks. The process is similar to what Cougar Card Services has for students when they apply for a Cougar Card. Adding CougarQ will give students a more streamlined process and reduce wait time for students.

  • F/CM Supports UH Fleet with New Fueling Station

    Facilities/Construction Management (F/CM) recently unveiled a new fueling station, located next to the University of Houston Police Department. Its purpose is to support the University’s fleet with two additional dispensers, which doubles the number of vehicles that can fill their tanks at a time. Read more about the new fuel stations.

  • F/CM Strategic Teams Deliver Dynamic Ideas

    Each year, F/CM senior leadership creates three-to-four Strategic Teams, selecting members across all F/CM units. F/CM senior leadership decided to draw members from across the department to ensure democratic decision-making, increase the shared pool of experience and creativity, and break down siloes between units.   • RSVP | A&F Staff Appreciation Event

    Reserve your spot at the 2025 Staff Appreciation Event, scheduled for Wednesday, March 25 at 11 a.m. in the Student Center South, Houston Room. The 2025 Staff Appreciation event, now in its fourth year, will allow the division to celebrate individuals and teams who demonstrated outstanding exceptional service in 2025.   • Meal Plans for Faculty and Staff

    UH Dining Services has distinctive meal plans for faculty and staff. Meal plans are accepted at Cougar Woods and Moody Dining Commons, as well as eateries inside the RAD Center and the Student Center. The meal plans are the Block 50, that gives users 50 meal swipes plus $150 in Cougar Dining Dollars, and the Block 100, which gives the user 100 meal swipes plus $275 Cougar Dining Dollars.

  • Financial Wellness Resources Available for UH Employees

    The University of Houston has launched the UH Financial Wellness website, which is a convenient, one-stop resource designed to help UH employees feel more confident about managing their finances. Employees will find an overview of UH financial benefits, free personalized financial coaching, financial education, and events and learning opportunities.   • February | Heart Health Month

    February is recognized as Heart Health Month and POWER UP Employee Wellness encourages you to strengthen your body and nurture your heart. Available at no additional cost to eligible HealthSelectSM medical plan participants, Hello Heart provides you with a Bluetooth-enabled blood pressure monitor and mobile app that lets you track your blood pressure daily. Find out if you are eligible to receive one.

  • Be Well to Do Well with a Preventive Health Checkup

    HR POWER UP Employee Wellness will partner with BlueCross Blue Shield of TX (BCBSTX) HealthSelect and Catapult Health to offer convenient no-cost Preventive Health Checkups on campus to UH employees Monday, March 30, Tuesday, March 3, and Thursday, April 2, from 8 AM to 4 PM. Look for registration details to come in March.

    As the University of Houston welcomes back faculty and staff, some campus dining locations are still operating under winter hours. If you plan to eat on campus, check whether your favorite spot has adjusted its schedule by visiting the UH Dining Services website for the latest operating hours.

    Emergency Call Boxes Across Campus

    Emergency call boxes are placed at various locations across the University of Houston campus. The call boxes can place a call directly to the UHPD dispatch center to request police assistance, security escorts, and any other police service. The call boxes are on free-standing towers or mounted on light poles and are labeled 'Emergency.' See the locations of the emergency call boxes on this interactive map.

    DocuSign Now In Use at UH

    The University of Houston has selected DocuSign as the digital signature software solution. DocuSign is an e-signature solution that allows users to quickly and securely access and sign documents. Using DocuSign will facilitate the electronic signing and sending of documents while providing insight throughout the signing process.     LinkedIn Learning offers a customized learning experience that features instructional content relevant to your professional interests and goals. UH Employees have unlimited access to more than 5,000 video tutorials covering business, creative and technology topic

    FIXIT Work Order System Upgrade

    In August, FIXIT’s new work order software will be implemented. The same FIXIT icon will be linked to the new software in AccessUH. Some new features include a faster and easier user interface on desktop and mobile, increased visibility of existing work orders, and a more intuitive online service request portal. As part of preparing for this change, the Building Coordinator meeting held in July included a presentation on the new work order management system.

    When the Sirens Sound

    The University of Houston Outdoor Warning Siren System is designed to alert students, faculty, staff and visitors in the event of a shelter-in-place emergency where it is unsafe to be outdoors. The siren is activated by the University and provides a quick method of notifying the campus with an audible tone that can be heard outdoors. It is meant to alert everyone to seek shelter indoors.

    DUO Increases Safety in Cybersecurity

    You may think YOU get a lot of mail….In reality, only about a third of all mail received by UH mail servers actually gets delivered to UH faculty, staff and student mailboxes. This is thanks to the UH System-wide implementation of Proofpoint, an email security solution that protects users from hackers, viruses, malicious software (malware), phishing and other potentially damaging attacks.

    UH Bike Registration

    Students, faculty and staff who have a bicycle on campus are required to register it. Registration takes only minutes to complete and is free. A registration sticker will be provided and should be placed on the bicycle. Log in to your myParking account through AccessUH to register.

    UH Police Department - Crime Prevention Awareness Talks

    The UH Police Department is sharing safety tips and precautions that you can take to reduce the risk. to yourself and discourage those who commit crimes. The UH Go Blue Phone feature is another resource at your fingertips, along with the Security Escort Program, and Cougar Ride. Contact Sergeant Amir Watkins at preventcrime@uh.edu to schedule a crime prevention presentation or talk for your office or group.

    Virtual Meter Parking/Text-to-Pay

    UH Parking is enhancing the parking experience through the implementation of virtual meter parking. Payment is no longer accepted through physical meters. There is signage at each of the virtual meter locations on campus explaining how to pay to park in these visitor spaces, which are marked with orange striping.   • Copy and Print Wins ACUP+ Award

    Copy and Print Wins ACUP+ Award

    The University of Houston’s Copy and Print department were recognized by the Association of College and University Printers (ACUP+) with an ACUP+ Platinum Award in the Offset Single Page category for their Report on Philanthropy brochure that details UH’s philanthropy efforts. The awards were announced at ACUP’s 2025 Conference held in Costa Mesa, California.

  • Recognizing Leadership: Cindy Crews Honored for Excellence

    Recognizing Leadership: Cindy Crews Honored for Excellence

    Parking & Transportation Director Cindy Crews received the Parking Employee Award of Excellence at the 2024 Texas Parking and Transportation Association (TPTA) Annual Conference, held April in Galveston. Crews received the recognition for her outstanding leadership and customer-focused initiatives at UH. Under her guidance, the department has made major strides in operational efficiency and service quality while managing a $25 million parking permit program. 

  • Recognizing Leadership: Cindy Crews Honored for Excellence

    Innovation in Action: Lot Spotters Takes the Spotlight

    The department’s Lot Spotters program, launched in March 2024, earned the Parking Program Award of Excellence at the 2024 Texas Parking and Transportation Association (TPTA) Annual Conference, held April in Galveston. Lot Spotter was recognized for its creative, cost-effective approach to customer service and issue resolution. Using QR code-enabled signage, Lot Spotters empowers users to quickly report parking-related issues — such as broken elevators, litter, or maintenance needs — via a short online form.

    Mark Rosanes President's Excellence Awards Technical Service and Craft

    Mark Rosanes, a dedicated member of the University of Houston’s University Information Technology department, was recently awarded the President’s Excellence Award in the Technical, Service, and Craft category. With over two decades of service at UH, starting in December 2001 and transitioning to UIT in May 2009, Mark has become an essential part of the campus’ communication infrastructure. Mark’s recognition in the Technical, Service, and Craft category celebrates the technical expertise he has brought to his role over the years.   • Assistant Chief of Police Nominated for 911der Woman of the Year

    Assistant Chief of Police Nominated for 911der Woman of the Year

    Assistant Chief of Police Chandra Johnson has been nominated as a 2024 911der Woman of the Year candidate. The honor recognizes the incredible achievements and dedication of women working in the 9-1-1 industry. Johnson’s nomination highlighted her over 35 years of experience in law enforcement, the last 10 of which have been spent at UHPD, where she instituted an evidence tracking system and helped the department become an accredited police agency with the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators.

    UH Dining Sr Executive Chef Chad McDonald Wins Awards at NACUFS Nationals

    UH Dining Senior Executive Chef Chad McDonald won third place at the NACUFS Culinary Challenge as part of the NACUFS 2024 National Conference in Louisville, Kentucky. Representing the Southern Region for the second consecutive year, McDonald’s fruit de mer put him among the top three, winning an American Culinary Federation (ACF) gold medal in the process. McDonald bested his performance from a year ago where he won an ACF silver medal.
