Campus Store Hosts Separate Sales to Recognize Members of the Coog Community

decorativeThe UH Campus Store launched a new initiative this fall, hosting appreciation events for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and graduates. Each event featured exclusive discounts, giveaways, and a festive atmosphere to showcase store merchandise.

The student event at the Student Center South store location included music, snacks, raffles, and special discounts.

decorative“It’s pretty cool, giving back to the students. We always represent the school, so to acknowledge that it is a really good feeling,” said Pedro Lopez-Sanchez, a kinesiology senior.

Alumni enjoyed a focused shopping experience at the store’s fan shop near TDECU Stadium, with markdowns on branded apparel.

The appreciation day roadshow then returned to the Student Center for the faculty and staff’s celebration. The lower level had music and snacks for attendees to enjoy while looking through discounted racks that had been set up. Drinkware was the featured sale category, and purchases of $75 or more of qualifying items received a complimentary lunch box with the interlocking UH logo on its side.

DecorativeFor most faculty/staff, the allure of the sale was enough to get their attention: −

  • “It gives us an excuse to shop,” said Angela Allen, administrative assistant, StudentCenter, who was checking out the fall and winter apparel.
  • “To support this school, to be able to wear our UH stuff,” said Laura Rosales, administrative coordinator, Student Center, who was on the hunt for sweaters, crewnecks, and a long-sleeved shirt.
  • “I recently started, so I wanted to get some merch. Plus, we got the email about the discount,” said Isha Baker, assistant director of Development, Houston Public Media, who received the free tote on her purchase of a crewneck and a couple of T-shirts.
  • “Curiosity,” said Camille Nelson, member relations associate, Houston Public Media. “I wanted to see what was new — check out the swag.”

decorativeGraduates celebrated with deals on diploma frames and commemorative items. The Campus Store plans to continue these events, refining them based on feedback.

“We want to support the Coog community at every stage — student, graduate, employee, and alumni,” said Natalie Silva, Campus Store manager.
