Student Ambassador Program

Student Ambassador Program

GCSW Student Ambassadors are an enthusiastic group of graduate social work students who work with the GCSW Office of Admissions and Student Affairs to represent the college and the profession of social work. They are individuals who are passionate about the profession and have a sense of pride in the college. Benefits of the program include networking opportunities, resume building, opportunities to travel, and professional skill development. Ambassadors are a recognized group whose work is appreciated and acknowledged by the college.

Program Requirements: Ambassadors must be incoming or current students of the GCSW (MSW or PhD) and be in good standing with the GCSW.

Ambassadors participate in a number of activities including:

  • Recruiters: Ambassadors attend recruitment events during the academic year (typically 2 per semester). Local recruitment events usually require between 4- 8 hours of time. Some events require travel and overnight stays, but will not conflict with academic requirements.
  • Peer Mentors: In the Spring, Ambassadors are available to prospective and incoming students via phone or email to answer general questions about student life at the GCSW. Ambassadors also participate in the welcome sessions for new students.
  • Orientation Guides: Ambassadors serve on our orientation team as they lead tours, assist with and lead several sessions during orientation and are available for questions from new students.
  • College Representatives: Ambassadors may serve as hosts at various GCSW community events throughout the year. They have an online presence through our Ambassador blog and Facebook page.

The total time commitment, including orientation & training will be around 20 – 24 hours each semester.
