Students
Students at the University of Houston comprise the core of its Cougar Community. They are hardworking and driven by success. Like UH’s faculty, students earn national and international honors such as the Fulbright Scholarship, Truman Scholarship, Goldwater Scholarship, Marshall Scholarship and others. UH’s students also are regularly nominated to the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, which further reflects their talents and tenacity.

Strategic Hiring Initiatives
The University of Houston is engaged in strategic recruiting initiatives to attract top scholars from around the world who can accelerate the institution’s trajectory and elevate its research and teaching profiles.

  • Presidential Frontier Faculty
    The Presidential Frontier Faculty program is a university-wide integrated interdisciplinary faculty hiring campaign supported by President Renu Khator. It is initiated by the Office of the Provost and Division of Research. The program encompasses hiring a large cohort of convergence research faculty to respond to federal priorities and societal challenges.
  • Aspire
    Supported by the Aspire Fund, UH’s Aspire Faculty are being recruited to lead interdisciplinary institutes dedicated to health care innovation; sustainable energy and energy security; global engagement; and resilient infrastructure and cities. These scholars are engaged in groundbreaking research and are esteemed members of the National Academies and other prestigious organizations.
