Bluware Donates Use of Software to University of Houston Earth and Atmospheric Sciences

Students Will Have Access to Seismic Deep Learning and Seismic Visualization Software

Bluware Corp., the digital platform that enables the energy industry to accelerate digital transformation initiatives and adopt cloud computing for subsurface data, is donating use of its InteractivAI™ seismic deep learning software and Headwave™ seismic visualization software to the University of Houston Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences.

These seismic software technologies will be available to the department for a minimum of three years amounting to a value of nearly a $2.5 million.

Bluware InteractivAI is a seismic interpretation application augmented by an interactive deep learning engine that can be used for seismic mapping of any type of geologic feature.

Students and researchers will be able to utilize this state-of-the-art technology to deliver more precise and comprehensive mapping in minutes, rather than hours or days. By fine-tuning the results interactively in real-time, InteractivAI caters to interpreters who want to run multiple scenarios to arrive at conclusive evidence required for research.

Bluware Headwave is an interpretative seismic processing tool that can be used by geologists and geophysicists to condition subsurface data. The technology enables interactive visualization of multi-dimensional datasets unlimited in size, allowing for students and researchers to rapidly conduct quality control and evaluate research results.

Bluware is also contributing the Headwave Data Connectivity Plug-In for Petrel™ which allows for interactive data integration and exchange between the two platforms.

“Bluware is pleased to contribute its software to UH to empower the next generation of interpreters with industry-leading seismic deep learning and visualization technology. It gives me great pleasure to support the university as an alumnus,” commented Suri Bhat, Global Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

The software technologies will be available for use to approximately 400 undergraduate and graduate students. The department offers four undergraduate and eight M.S./Ph.D. degree options. Students and researchers of the Conjugate Basins, Tectonics, and Hydrocarbons (CBTH) project at UH will also use the software technologies for seismic surveys from the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean, Brazil and circum-Atlantic margins.

“Access to these seismic software technologies gives our students the opportunity to train and become comfortable with platforms they will use in their careers after graduation,” said Tom Lapen, chair of the UH Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. “My thanks to Bluware for providing these tools that greatly aid our students.”
