2008

Rep. Bill Caligari and Sen. Glenn Hegar gather feedback from the Katy community on higher education needs. Subcommittee formed to explore two areas of interest: energy and health care

Support from Texas Legislature

2015

With critical help from Sen. Lois Kolkhorst, Sen. Joan Huffman, Rep. John Zerwas and Rep. Mike Schofield, in 2015 the Texas Legislature approved $46.8 million for UH to purchase land near intersection of Grand Parkway and I-10.

Katy Task Force

2015

UHS Vice Chancellor Paula Short seats the Katy Task Force to plan and advance the development of a new building and its educational programs.

UH/HCC Engineering Academy

2016

Through partnership with Houston Community College, the UH Cullen College of Engineering begins offering programs in Katy

Groundbreaking for New Facility

May 2018

UH and UHV break ground on the new Katy Academic Building that will house unique programs from both institutions

Open for Fall 2019

August 2019

Doors opened to classes for the first time this fall. Classes include nursing, engineering, business, education, criminal justice, gaming and psychology.
