Self-Advocacy for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (SAIID)

Self-Advocacy for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (SAIID) is dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities by enhancing their ability to navigate and advocate within the healthcare system. SAIID's mission is to equip participants with practical tools and knowledge to effectively manage their health and communicate their needs. Under the model of "celebrating your health," SAIID volunteers will lead weekly interactive workshops that aim to foster self-advocacy skills and ensure that participants with intellectual disabilities are informed, confident, and active participants in their own healthcare journeys.

Member Expectations

Volunteers are expected to attend all volunteer training sessions prior to volunteering at the Alexander JFS.
